my story
I invite you to learn about my journey as a doctor and as the person behind the title that led me toward cultivating an integrative and personalised approach to health.
As human beings, we are complex systems, interconnected within ourselves and with the world around us. My story reflects this intricate web, highlighting the beauty and messiness of life while emphasising the consistent threads that make up the fabric of who I am.
My fascination with the wonder and possibility of the world and people in it fueled my desire to study medicine, where I experienced the privilege of healing and witnessing profound human moments.
My hospital training years revealed the value of life-saving care, the limitations in preventative and chronic disease care were clear- particularly in addressing the unique needs of each patient within their individual context. The stark realities of South Africa’s healthcare system, marked by systemic failures, challenged my innate passion and left me feeling burnt out, but I also found beauty and forged meaningful relationships within this chapter of my life.
Transitioning out of hospital-care and into daily private practice revitalised my creativity and deepened my understanding of health, revealing that individual experiences are shaped by thoughts, emotions, behaviours and environmental inputs. Discovering Functional and Integrative Medicine provided a holistic perspective that resonated with me, allowing me to support healthcare delivery as a dynamic process.
As “The Integrated Doctor,” I strive to blend scientific principles with individual uniqueness, treating medicine as an art form.
I view my role as a catalyst for change, empowering patients to shape their health journeys while contributing positively to the broader culture of healthcare.
Medical Background & Short Biography

of wonder
Dr Simone Silver, “The Integrated Doctor”, completed her medical degree at the University of Witwatersrand in 2007. From there she worked in South Africa’s public healthcare system spending 2 years of internship time between Chris Hani Baragwaneth hospital in Soweto and Johannesburg General Hospital. Her year of community service was delivered at South Rand Hospital in southern Johannesburg.
After her public health time, she ventured into private practice, first joining a busy family practice as a general practitioner in Sandton. From there her real journey into integrative medicine began as she moved to the Integrative Medical Centre in Bryanston, Johannesburg.
Her fascination with the interplay and complexity between health and factors such as environmental, social, hormonal and genetic factors soon became an inexhaustible passion.
Her holistic and personalised approach continued to evolve as the years in practice accumulated. In 2014 she moved to Cape Town and opened her own practice, Hormonal Health and Wellness Centre, focusing on personalised medicine and wellcare in every circumstance as well as the much-needed delivery of holistic care in the field of peri and menopausal medicine and chronic stress management.
She is currently pursuing her Fellowship in Anti-Aging, Metabolic and Functional Medicine through the American Academy of Antiaging Medicine (A4M). She is passionate about sharing her expert knowledge on Integrated Medicine and her unique perspective of the” Artistry of Health” through speaking and events, both locally and internationally.
She values continued self-awareness and growth and values life’s daily opportunity for rich experience.
When she is not writing, speaking or teaching about health she can be found walking on the mountain, taking a splash in the sea or singing Disney songs with her kids.
